Morning Juice
Written for my friend @Gamix
Guys and gals, I'm Chloe and this is my very first post. I hope you like it, let me know in the comments down below! :D
Tom had fled England, hoping to turn over a new leaf in France but the authorities had been alerted and were working with Interpol trying to catch him. Tom wasn’t a bad guy but he couldn’t seem to do anything good either. Maybe fate had led him here, a bit cruel to make him suffer for so long. Truth is, when Tom suffered, so would others. He’d sell people drugs, he’d steal from people, he did whatever he could do. Because after all, if you could, why wouldn’t you? It was all just a desperate attempt to feel in power but fate would be catching up with him soon, or would it? It was more likely the universe was going to course-correct his life and that of someone else…(find out in a future sequel)
He arrived at what appeared to be an abandoned church. So weird, it was up the hill and he hadn’t seen it while running towards it. Maybe the police wouldn’t be able to make it to him. They probably wouldn’t, because the sirens started growing more faint as they went deeper into the forest, away from him. Feeling exhausted and relieved he realized he had nothing on him, no cash, no snacks, no water. And he didn’t know how to survive out in the wild. Luckily there was a well outside the church, maybe filled with holy water. But it was probably just rainwater. Anyway, what’s the worst that could happen? He was thirsty.
He didn’t feel different after drinking from the well, if anything he was disappointed there wasn’t any more water left. And since this was a church, they will probably come here looking for him next, he had to run again. For a while he could’ve sworn he heard footsteps and made sure he quickly got out of there.
As he rolled into town he saw a market and lots of people. This should be easy, since most were elderly people and right now he was very focused. He needed money to buy food and possibly a change of clothes. But then he heard cops scream his name and screaming at him “ArrĂȘter”. The girl he was stealing from stopped in her tracks and turned to face him as he touched her hand. All the cops could see was that one moment he was still there and in the blink of an eye he had disappeared. Just like in the movies. This was definitely a first for them.
When the cops had finally caught up with the lady they asked where the Englishman went and she told them where he had run off to. She actually gasped, her voice was raspy and very beautiful. And my oh my, French was a pretty language. Why could she speak it though? She hadn’t even fully grasped what had happened yet.
She was now this 17 year old student who would be attending university soon. Sure, Poitiers was picturesque but she couldn’t stay here like her parents had and their parents before her had. She would’ve killed at the chance to move to Paris and now she’d been given that chance. At least for the next 5 years. She remembers where this girl, Cassandra lives. Her friends called her Cassie, and she lives just 5 minutes around the block.
The entire way home she was walking comfortable in her brown espadrille wedges. Not even shredding a single thought that she was walking in heels like a natural. But as she walked by a clothing store, a pair platform criss-cross slides caught her attention. She went in with buying a change of clothes still on her mind. A very beautiful woman tending the store, she would’ve been into her before but now she isn’t so sure. “Bonjour Cassie” she said. But of course, they were friends. Chloe, the owner of the store used to be her babysitter, she's a family friend.
Cassie wasted no time pointing to the sandals she wanted to buy. “Ahhh, good choice mademoiselle, they’ll look very good on you” she said. “I bet your boyfriend will take you shopping next time after he sees how good you look” she said as I paid and left the shop. This was probably the first time I’d purchased something and carried a fancy bag with me. But then again, I also remember carrying a super fancy purse with me most of the time. Black leather, just like the cute tiny backpack I was wearing.
Somehow the cute orange tank top I'd tried on at the shop went really well with the kaki short shorts Chloe had paired me with. I couldn’t wait to get home and try on my different outfits. An old man had been watching me from outside the shop, I was happy he wasn't there when I got out of the store and even happier when I made it home without making any more stops. I'd spent all my money for this week. Even though all I was trying to get from the market were some carrots for my morning smoothie.
Back at my place my parents greeted me, they were enjoying my last month with them. My dad always loved me so much, he kissed me on my forehead as he always did and told me if I wanted to have breakfast with them. Mom was squeezing some fresh orange juice as we were sitting outside on the patio. It really was nice weather today, maybe I’d go for a tan, why not? I got my sunglasses out of my purse and put them on. After break I'd change into my bikini and go to the beach.
